Jose Elmer S. Oficiar Jr.

University of Mindanao- Tagum, Philippines

Topic: Artificial Intelligence in Education: Risks and Opportunities for Academic Innovation

Brief biography

Dr. Jose Elmer Oficiar is a college and graduate school professor of the University of Mindanao Tagum Branch. He has been teaching English, Linguistics and Literature for 17 years in the said institution. He was awarded as the “Most Outstanding Teacher of Region 11 in 2022” given by the Commission on Higher Education 11 and the same citation as the Most Outstanding Teacher for UM Branches 2023. He is an active researcher of LGBTQ+ topics which lead him to be awarded the “Pride Excellence Award” given by the City Government of Tagum. He is an International Research Peer Reviewer and an Editorial Board of the DOCEN International Journal of Education. He was invited to be the Chief Speaker for Australasia International Model United Nations and delivered a topic on “The Value of Research in International Diplomacy” in Sydney, Australia and last May was invited in Bangkok, Thailand for a similar United Nations convention. Also, he was invited as Keynote Speaker for the International Conference on Teaching, Education and Learning (ICTEL 2021 to 2023) in London, England and Barcelona, Spain, Queensbridge, United Kingdom and recently in Singapore for his various researches. He was chosen as a speaker for TEDx Arellano St. for his research in the implications of gay lingo to LGBTQ+ issues. He is a published author of books in Communicative English and Philippine Literature. He has served as Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 for his institution from 2016 to 2019. He is currently engaging in various speakerships as Trainor/Facilitator for Quality Assurance, Quality Management System, ISO 9001:2015, Risk-Based Management, Communications, Quantitative and Qualitative Research, Linguistics, and Literature.
